Rostromysis bacescuii gen. et sp. nov. and Megalopsis den-ticauda gen. et sp. nov. (Crustacea Mysidacea) from the south-west coast of Australia
National Institute of Oceanography, Regional Centre Cochin-18, Kerala, India
Received on December 3, 1985; accepted on March 23, 1987 Rostromysis bacescuii gen. et sp. nov. and Megalopsis denlicauda gen. et sp. nov. belonging to the tribe Leptomysini are described from the south-west coast of Australia. The characters unique to the genus Rostromysis are the unusually long club-shaped rostrum and the large delicate lamella-like pleopods of the female, thus easily distinguishing it from the allied genera Tenagomysis and Doxomysis. The genus Megalopsis is closely allied to Leptomysis, Prionomysis and Promysis but is readily distinguishable in having a short linguiform uncleft telson with a pair of median plumose setae.
