Particles with characteristics similar to marine free-living
prochlorophytes have been detected by flow cytometry during summer in a
eutrophic reservoir in the south of Spain. The
<It>Prochlorococcus-like particles showed a vertical
distribution similar to Synechococcus. Both
populations displayed a subsuperficial maximum at 5 m.
