Received on July 12, 1995; accepted on February 5, 1996 A modified MPN method was developed for enumerating viable tintinnid cysts in marine sediments Using this MPN method the abundance of tintinnid cysts was estimated in Hiroshima Bay, the Seto Inland Sea of Japan.
