Digestive enzyme activity is present in mature copepods despite the absence of the corresponding substrates in the diet during development
Department of Zoology, Arizona State University Tempe, AZ 85287-1501, USA
Received on January 3, 1993; accepted on December 15, 1993 Experiments with copepods raised on diets of diatoms, dinoflagellates and a cryptophyte demonstrate that digestive enzyme activity (laminarinase and amylase) is present regardless of the presence of the corresponding substrate during development.
