Received on August 1, 1988; accepted on February 6, 1989 Close agreement was found between zooplankton biovolume estimates using a 21-frequency acoustic system and a high-volume pump. Estimates were similar in both total biovolume and biovolume by size class. Variations between methods (pump versus acoustic) were of the same scale as variations within pump replicates.
